Baggage Allowances

* Passenger baggage allowance :

Your baggage allowance depends on your status and destination. To know the number of baggage you can carry for free, please refer to the table ‘Checked baggage’ by clicking here

* Additional or non-standard baggage

Each piece of luggage must measure less than 158 cm (height + length + width). If you exceed the authorized dimensions or weight or if you wish to bring an additional baggage item, you will have to pay an additional fee when you check in.

Check with your travel agent for terms and conditions.

Tips

  • Remember to remove tags from previous flights, which may delay the delivery of your luggage
  • On the inside and outside of each piece of luggage, clearly indicate your name, address and destination, cell phone number and email address.
  • Avoid carrying fragile items in the hold, but if you have to do so, make sure they are well protected. Please note that TRANS AIR CONGO cannot be held responsible for any damage to “fragile” goods.
  • Upon arrival, take the time to verify that you have recovered your own luggage by checking your name on the label.

PROHIBITED GOODS

For your safety, certain items are strictly forbidden on board. They should never be placed in your checked baggage.

  • Matches, lighters and their fuels.
  • Batteries with electrolyte.
  • Fireworks, firecrackers, fireworks, flares, dummy guns, firelighters, tear gas.
  • Camping stoves, gas cylinders, oxygen diving tanks.
  • Paint, varnish, lacquer.
  • Toxic materials, infectious materials, radioactive materials.
  • Chemicals, fertilizers, weed killers, pesticides, insecticides.
  • Paint strippers, bleach, chlorine, lye.
  • Flammable liquids such as fuel, thinner, solvent, acetone.
  • Mercury thermometers, barometers.
  • Diving torch (battery and/or bulb disconnected)
  • Animal products: the transport of wild animal meat in any form by air (cabin, hold or cargo) is strictly forbidden.

CARRY-ON BAGGAGE

 

Advice :Advice: Here are the items that are best carried in the cabin :

  • valuable items: keys, cell phone (turned off), identity papers, important documents, money, valuables, jewelry…
  • Essential items: medicines for example,
  • fragile items: camera, computer equipment (turned off). Please note that TRANS AIR CONGO cannot be held responsible for any damage to “fragile” items.

How to save time during the inspection of your luggage ?

Present separately from your hand luggage :

  • liquid products placed in a closed transparent plastic bag,
  • your laptop computer removed from its bag,
  • your coat or jacket.

How do I carry liquids in the cabin?

You can carry liquids in your hand luggage as long as they are

  • in small quantities (100 ml maximum per product),
  • placed in a transparent re-sealable plastic bag (freezer bag type) with a maximum volume of 1 liter. The bag must be closed and the items must fit easily inside. Only one plastic bag is allowed per passenger.

Liquids accepted without restriction

You may take the following liquids with you :

  • Food and medical substances essential to your health – note: the security officer may ask you to justify their nature, possibly by tasting them,
  • specific nutritional foods without which it is impossible to travel (in case of allergies to lactose, gluten…),
  • baby food,
  • Medication prescribed by a doctor, for which you must be able to prove the necessity (prescription, medical certificate in your name…). Purchasing duty-free liquids
  • You may purchase duty-free liquids at the airport or on board, provided they are placed in a sealed plastic bag and accompanied by proof of purchase.

Some goods pose a safety risk to you and other passengers. Check the information below before placing them in your baggage.

PROHIBITED GOODS

For your safety, certain items are strictly prohibited on board. If necessary, they will be confiscated when your baggage is checked.

  • Bladed weapons and any sharp, blunt, metallic or non-metallic object that can be used as a weapon (e.g.: nail scissors, razor blade…).
  • Firearms.
  • Cartridges and ammunition for hunting or sporting weapons.
  • Perfumes over 100 ml per bottle.
  • Aerosols for cosmetic use beyond 100 ml per bottle.
  • Fuel for lighters
  • Batteries with electrolyte.
  • Fireworks, firecrackers, Bengal lights, distress rockets, dummy guns, firelighters, tear gas.
  • Camping stoves, gas cylinders, oxygen diving tanks.
  • Paint, varnish, lacquer.
  • Toxic, infectious and radioactive materials.
  • Chemicals, fertilizers, weed killers, pesticides, insecticides.
  • Strippers, bleach, chlorine, lye.
  • Flammable liquids such as fuel, thinner, solvent, acetone.
  • Mercury thermometers and barometers.
  • Animal products: the transport of wild animal meat in any form by air (cabin, hold or cargo) is strictly forbidden.

BAGGAGE INCIDENTS

We apologize if your luggage was not returned to you upon arrival. Technical problems or the loss of a baggage tag may be the reason for this delay. Here is how to proceed if your baggage has not been returned to you..

Before leaving the airport

Go to the baggage claim counter. You will fill out a document (Missing Baggage Declaration). You must complete this form before leaving the airport.

Damaged baggage :

The transportation of your luggage, especially if it is overloaded, can cause scratches, marks and other damage for which we cannot be held responsible. Please note that TRANS AIR CONGO cannot be held responsible for the damage of a “fragile” good.

On the other hand, if you note more consequent damage on your luggage, please announce it to us as of your arrival. If, for any reason, you are unable to do so, you have 7 days to submit your complaint in writing to the Customer Service Department, whose contact details can be found in the contact section. In case of damage, we will do our best to compensate you.

Some or all of the contents of your luggage are missing

Report it as soon as you arrive at the airport. If you do not notice the disappearance of an object until later, you have 7 days from your arrival to submit your complaint in writing to the Customer Service Department, whose contact details can be found in the contact section. After this time, we will not be able to process your request.
